The Brotherhood accuses TOC of “astroturfing” to support Yong Vui Kong’s case

Good Afternoon all,

If you wish to support a cause. Do it for the right and not the wrong reasons.

Firstly, if you go to TOC and read most of the comments posted concerning Vui Kong. You will notice one glaring inconsistency – absolutely no intelligent comments from those who may see the need to keep the death penalty against the fight against drugs. Ask yourself this: how is that even possible?

This is not because many Singaporeans, residents and even Malaysians have not written to TOC expressing their views in support of the MDP. It just means TOC has deleted these comments in order to engineer consent on this subject. So let us be very clear here. The picture TOC presents to the world does not in any way represent an accurate appraisal of what most readers feel about this subject – it is designed to reflect ONLY the views of the owner of TOC and their inner circle.

n841805346_6526615_4467987-300x2251Secondly, not everyone who supports the MDP relishes the prospects of taking a life – many broach this very serious subject with intense reservation – and here again TOC attempts to hijack the image of the reasonable man; as time and again, they keep on harping that only the inane can justify taking a life of another no matter how serious the crime; in the universe of TOC no one who is of sound mind and moral probity can possibly not see the wisdom of sparing a life instead of taking it. On the contrary, this narrative misleads – as it is precisely because many of us value, respect and honor life, that is why we are prepared to make uncomfortable moral compromises to protect many who may otherwise fall victim to the vicious cycle of drug abuse.

Ultimately, the question boils down to only this: do you consider the drug trade to be a real and present danger to our society?

If answered in the negative. Then by all means go to Hong Lim Park. Have a ball. Only as I have said, if you wish to support something –do it for the right reasons and not the wrong ones. However if you do consider the drug trade to be what most reasonable believe it to be – the greatest solvent that menaces society – then consider: how is any civilization supposed to perpetuate its inalienable right to self determination when confronted with such a ferocious enemy? How do you even find common ground with those who may not wish to live and let live; and have no reservations in using every available means (including the young and ignorant) to get their contraband to our shores just to turn a quick buck? How are we to reason with the enemy who doesn’t even perceive any moral contradiction about poisoning your mummy, sister, her friends and the people who we love and care for in our community? Can anyone tell me how this can be done? I think not.

It is very easy to buy into TOC’s homily sugary fairytale that all we have to do is to dismantle the MDP and all of us can suddenly be enlightened beings and live happily ever after and good will somehow triumph over the forces of darkness. You don’t need to be very intelligent to unravel the weakness in that argument –because the question still stands, how can we continue to effectively protect our society from the drug menace in the absence of resolve in the shape and form of the MDP?

TOC is not only disinterested in this narrative. They refuse to even have an all inclusive debate on this subject – the search for lasting truth is the furthest thing from their minds. As I suspect they know very little about what conditions first needs to be obtained to create a drug free Singapore. Otherwise why even bother deleting post on those who choose to speak intelligently and informatively about the need to keep the MDP? Neither have they even devoted so much as one article, one sentence, one paragraph on the need to maintain the MDP to facilitate you the reader to gain a better understanding on this subject – so that you can make an informed decision concerning this subject – so pray tell, how can you even buy into TOC’s idea if what they are really showing you is only one side of the coin?

If you wish to support a cause. Do it for the right and not the wrong reasons.

The decision is yours. But always remember your decision may affect many.

Brotherhood Liaison Officer. So we in TEMASEK REVIEW ARE ‘absolutely of no intelligence… BA BA BA…” So you not only discredit US but call US ALL idiots lah! What’s YOUR angle and views? So you mean SEE “Even with this it still happens” right! YO! You ARE far far off the horizon and into the NETHER! IT IS THUS NO WONDER THAT “Brotherhood” HAS LONG BEEN REPLACED BY TR, TOC AND YAWNING BREAD!

NOW… Let’s all see who SEE deeper and WITH BETTER moral, ethics and pragmatic convictions WITHOUT compromises? YOU or US all!

So you think you got it right? 15 gms of anything call drugs for addiction must be the benchmark for MANDATORY Death Penalty?Do YOU have a BrotherHOOD over your eyes? How your brain is hooded to I can’t describe. Except that it is hood by the same “devil may care if it won’t or can’t be on the MANDATORY Death Penalty lineup” right? If one of your brotherhood brother got HOODED and carried 15 gms or more by doing an innocent favour for what he though of as a good friend guy? Then “charm liao lah”. HANG to be for sure? How AND what you going to say then? WHAT’S YOUR ANGLE AGAIN HAH?????

Sorry leh. The way you argue your case, have NO CHOICE but to tackle you this way hor! No hard feelings later yah! Please refute me WITH moral, ethical and holistic principles and convictions to substantiate your “disapproval” of our case against “MANDATORY”!

In murder cases, 1st Degree IS Premeditated. 2nd is NOT! Meaning homicidal in “Crimes of Passion”, “Self-Defense”, “Defense when Saving another life”, “Gang fights” to just name enough to stimulate your “daft” pap type mind!!!!! NOW, GIVE US MORE SUCH CONDITION FOR 2ND DEGREE MURDER!!!!!

Think you got fundamentals right? What IS 1st Degree MURDER ACTUALLY? DID you read and understood mine you nincompoop! Told you it IS PREMEDITATED right!!!!! So you assume and agreed that:

    1. 15 gm drug trafficking is premeditated murder when the trafficked drug HAS NOT YET killed anyone right? – GRAVELY WRONG!

    2. 15 gm of any trafficked drug WILL surely kill? – TWO DOWN!

    3. Murder is murder when anyone takes another life right or wrong? So any individual kill, its MURDER SO LOUD! But when men with LEGALIZED authority it is not right. Also, an eye for eye by authority IS justice and not MURDER they said right? You agreed right! – Sorry THREE DOWN!

    4. Murder by authorities is for societies’ greater good in greater number right? So YOU Brotherhood ARE also in the “playing numbers game” along with those pappy minds right? I mean with precious human lives! And “as” can there then be room for the MISCARRIAGE of JUSTICE? NO? – So Solly leh you FOUR DOWN!

    5. Wanna offer just one more reason why wrong to have MANDATORY is ABSOLUTELY WRONG? And of course more if you can lah! Try me! TRY TR! As am not unloading my whole arsenal then your “values” become as no jokes right!

I expect your response HERE in TR! GO FOR IT AS YOUR ARE SO “COCK SURE” like pappies! Try for size is good challenge right? As that’s valour right. Or, Mmmm should it be “courage”. getting forgetful lar. Please confirm and clarify Mr. Brotherhood? thanks!

  • ahkong:

Without TOC highlighting the plight of Yong I wouldn’t know what is the meaning of be slow to take one’s life. I support the death penalty but not the ways it is done now. Yong deserves clemency.

  • Mani the Parrot:

Article 22P of the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore can grant pardon to a person facing a dealth penalty like compassionate murder which means no sentence of capital punishment is by default.
But Singapore and also Malaysia have strict policy against drug trafficking which carries a mandatory death penalty.
In 2005, the Singapore government had executed a 25-year-old Australian heroin trafficker, Nguyen Tuong Van who received the mandatory death sentence after he was caught in 2002 at Changi Airport on his way to Melbourne carrying nearly 14 ounces of heroin.
A survey showed that most Singaporeans are silently supportive of the drug capital punishment. Even a 56 year old shop owner, P. Subramaniam said, “We must have the death penalty in Singapore. If we do not take strict measures, many more drug smugglers will come to Singapore and destroy the country.”
In the case of 22 year old drug mule Yong Vui Kong, it is also difficult to plead for clemancy. So TOC is predicted to be supporting the wrong cause.

  • LHL's Dead Wife:

    @ Singapore Daddy,
Isn’t what you’ve described also practiced openly by the government and its trumpet, The Straits Times? Why don’t you also send a note to them to remind them that they are only revealing half the story and a skewed one too.

Anyway, if the police were actually doing their jobs properly, i don’t see why we should even have a drug problem here! It’s not like we are a huge country that is hard to monitor what comes in and out of the country, we only have finite ways of entering and leaving the country which are all policed…I refuse to believe it is impossible to stop drugs coming into this country!! It can be done only if the police actually do their jobs.

    Its a simple equation:

Police do their job = No Drugs
    No drugs = No addicts!

  • andrew leung:

TOC is pro-gay, anti-christian, anti-death penalty, anti-TR and many others. It likes to censor views that do not agree with them.

    TR also censors some comments.

  • Ah Pek:

TOC should not support drug mule who may turn into a drug lord if not caught.
TOC will be Trashing Our Citizens to become drug addicts if drug traffickers escape being severely punished.
Then how our citizens going to compete with foreigners if all local Singaporeans start to become drug addicts?

  • Will.I.Am:

I hereby declare that I’m against mandatory death penalty, as well as against death penalty.

First of all, the ‘mandatory’ portion. ‘Mandatory’ gives the state the power to execute or kill drug traffickers without any consideration for mitigating circumstances nor reason nor logic. Consider this scenario: a drug taker with more than 15gram of heroine at the customs freak out last minute and planted his drugs into ur bag without you knowing. You were than discovered and caught. Now, u are immediately treated as ‘guilty and condemned until proven innocenct’, which flies in the face of justice. The onus is on you to prove that you are NOT a drug trafficker, not on the state to prove u guilty.

Next, death penalty for the more serious crime, i.e. Murder. This has it’s roots in tradition sense of vigilante justice – an eye for an eye, a life for a life, where a son or relative is permitted to kill his father’s killer as revenge.

Taking this literally, imagine a robber robs a person and slashes off his arm The robber was later caught and brought to justice. Using the ‘an eye for an eye’ formula, the robber should be punished by having his arm slashed off as well, which I’m sure most will find barbaric. However, simply because the execution deed is attributed to the state, most people who support death penalty can simply live on without the emotional attachment nor personal responsibility of having killed someone. Try being an executioner yourself, and see if you will be as willing to kill someone else in the name of justice.

  • Incred:

I have lost count the number of times my posts in TOC have been deleted just because my views are not in line with TOC’s.

IMHO, the issue of Vui Kong and MDP has been hijacked by his lawyer M. Ravi and TOC. He has lost many drug-related cases and seeing that he will never win in the Court of Law, he is trying to win the case through the Court of Opinion.

Many a times, I have seen how he would raise the hopes of the convicted criminals’ families. When he should counsel them to be emotionally ready once they are hanged. We have heard a lot from M. Ravi, but once the case is over and the convicted is hanged, no one reports the emotional turmoil and anguished of the families, whose hopes have been raised so high by him, only to be crushed by his own ineptitude.

Subhas Anandan and David Marchall are shining examples of a lawyers who fought tooth and nail for their clients in the Court of Law and have even won cases and arguments or reduced sentences.

Unfortunately, M. Ravi’s way of fighting for his client is through the media.

  • JOBS FOR FOREIGNERS, NS FOR SINGAPOREANS:

    @ andrew leung:

Er, methinks TOC is pro-christian – a few of their writers have admitted that they are x’tian! During the Jerk Neo scandal, they scarcely mentioned the fact that Jerk is a x’tian…. and TOC had very little coverage of the Rony Tan and City Harvest Church sagas….

Another thing – TOC tends to be pro-foreigner as well….

  • Qin Hui:

TOC is managed by a bunch of double standards and freakish gays and lesbians…what can you expect from them?

Try posting opposing views from their stand and you will get deleted almost immediately…the way they censored and silenced opposition is much worse than ST Discussion Forum.

By the way, I wonder why TOC is so silent about a recent case of a Singaporean being sentenced to death by a Malaysia court for drug trafficking?

    =========================
SHAH ALAM: Three men, including a Singaporean, were sentenced to death for drug trafficking by the High Court while the fourth accused was freed this morning.

Judicial Commissioner Dr Badariah Sahamid found Gan Thean Lim, 46, Gan Thiam Boon, 35, and Singaporean Ang Eng Thye, 47, guilty of trafficking methamphetamine weighing 2,142.4 grammes at 7.40pm on Feb 6, 2007.

The offence was committed at Room No. 7107, Pyramid Tower Hotel, Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel, Persiaran Lagoon, Bandar Sunway, Selangor.

Badariah, however, found the fourth accused, Lam Chong Chooi, 55, who was arrested at the hotel foyer, not guilty, saying in her judgement that he managed to raise a reasonable doubt in his defence.

She said Lam’s claims that he did not know the three other accused were reasonable because even the two prosecution witnesses could not confirm that Lam was a look-out for the drug traffickers.

Badariah said the defence of the three accused failed to raise a reasonable doubt following the claim that they were in the hotel room for a gambling session as no gaming paraphernalia were found.

She said the defence’s claim that the trio were in the room on the invitation of a stranger called Speky was also suspect.

According to the facts of the case, three men were arrested by a police team while the fourth man was detained at the hotel lobby following a tip-off from a police detective acting as an agent provocateur.

The prosecution were represented by Deputy Public Prosecutors Zainal Azwar Kamaruddin and Haris Ong Mohd Jeffery Ong while the accused were represented by Datuk Sallehuddin Saidin and Afifudin Hafifi.

  • reality check:

Being tough on drug trafficking is surely one of the things the government got it correct.

The logic of the death penalty is that it is better to take one life rather than let many lives be ruined by drug addiction.

However, the irony is that the PAP government is comes down very hard on the drug trafficker (which is the right thing) but it does business, indirectly, with the drug lords of Burma!

  • At least one point raised by Singaporedaddy is TRUE, which is at TR, you get to see PUBLISHED 2 sides of a story while at TOC, its always the side that TOC ‘believes’ in.

  • YT:

“Ultimately, the question boils down to only this: do you consider the drug trade to be a real and present danger to our society?”

This question is too reductionist and fails to take into account the complexity of the issue. I was hoping to read a reasoned and intelligent argument in support of the Mandatory Death Penalty. I am sorry to say that this article has been disappointing.

The position of Singaporedaddy (Internet Liaison Officer of the Brotherhood)is like our Minister withour portfolio in the PM Office, Lim Swee Say.
The Brotherhood believes darkness is the ultimate source of power and the members are so united in purpose which motivate them to hunger after world domination.
The Brotherhood members who are versed in internet games industry and has a Brotherhood Press believes in Spiritual battle and is waging for the souls of mankind since the foundation of creation.
Good versus evil. Darkness versus Light. As God has His disciples working to spread the message of Truth, Satan also has recruited his minions to work destruction and human misery. Rewarding them with power and wealth beyond imagination like our ministers multi-million dollars salaries.
So Singaporedaddy is hidden behind every man made ritual and ceremony, lurking in the shadows, passing down the `secrets’ of his power to those seduced by the Brotherhood Darkness.
I predict Brotherhood will not be able to dominate TR as we are all sane people unlike some members of the TOC who now have incoherent communication with the Brotherhood.

  • TOC and Dark Forces:

The Online Citizen is dabbling with the Dark Froces and TOC may not be able to see any light through the tunnel of darkness.
Now Singaporedaddy of Internet Liaison Officer of the Brotherhood is getting the support of TR and any other new media to condemn TOC for not following the New Order set by the Brotherhood sect.

  • carebare:

TOC regularly deletes comments. If not delete, they put you on moderation so you will be lost in the thread forever. Most people dunno this. So if you go to their website. It looks like everyone in Singapore is supporting Vui Kong. Then Ravi also another selfish asshole. He know this is a open and shut case. Many in Sabah believe he will be free. This is not fair. If you want to make a name for yourself as a lawyer. Why do this by selling false hope. He will cause misery.

Brotherhood also another one. They take their gaming culture to blogosphere.Never change one bit even. No imagination. They never think ship cannot sail on land. But we all know. TOC should not have stopped a diplomat from talking. This is like shooting the postman. TOC probably cannot shakah or bribe the liason officer bc they are all very independent minded. No one can. That is why when you see one of their diplomats in the gaming world. On his forehead there is a diamond. Sign that quality control is passed.

Brotherhood also try to control to many things in gaming world, so they are known by nearly 150 over names. We are sick of you. In the real world, they are now in very hot soup. Low Taek Jho has just been exposed. He will open a big can of worms. Guess who also went to the same boarding school in Harrow with fattie Low? Is it a coincidence Low yacht is called Spice. • Singaporedaddy:

    Good Afternoon all,

Thank you all for your charming comments. As many of you can see there are many points of view here, some valid and others which I prefer to leave to your better judgement.

Nonetheless, let us be absolutely clear on one thing. I did not say TOC is involved in astroturfing. To be perfectly honest with you. Even the government of the day, the strait times along with the entire apparatus of assimilation is engaged in astroturfing in one form or another. It is just a matter of extent and degree. So IMHO that is a sterile argument and warrants no further discussion.

What I did say concerning TOC is far more serious – that they are engaged in “engineering consent,” and that is very different from astroturfing. If the former is pulling the wool over your eyes; the latter is treating you like a sheep. And we all know what happens to sheep.

As “engineering consent” implies forwarding a line of logic that appears to have ALL the elements of knowledge concerning the subject of how the MDP may apply to Vui Kong or for that matter anyone else.

Here we have to be very clear: while no one denies knowledge is indeed a great treasure, there is one thing higher than knowledge, and that is understanding. As mere information by itself is worth little, unless it is arranged in ways that makes sense to those who may be interested in forming an opinion.

But how are we to even reasonably make sense of information – to understand it – and put it into fruitful relationship with other information. IF all the counters argument are missing from the discussion of how the MDP may apply to Vui Kong?

How is any reasonable man supposed to grasp the meaning of something as philosophically, jurisprudentially and ethically vexing as the MDP if the narrative is bracketed by mindless deletion and censorship?

Can that be done? Again you decide. I give you the facts. You decide.

As when we talk about knowledge, it implies finding patterns, learning lessons, drawing inferences, and as a result seeing the whole in a objective setting. As it is, all we have from TOC is ONLY one side of the rusty coin. And even then it is so encrusted with the personal agenda of the owner of TOC and his erudite inner circle that it cannot possibly reflect reality accurately.

That is what I mean by engineering consent.

So it is foolhardy to even speak about knowledge when you as the reader are not even given all the facts to make an informed decision concerning this subject.

Do forgive me for my windbag reply. And may I wish you all a productive day and a restful weekend ahead. I really need to attend to a few conference calls.

Singaporedaddy (Internet Liaison officer of the Brotherhood)

  • CallSpadeaSpade:

Singaporedaddy, did you write directly to TOC of what you written here?

    If no, why not?

  • “engineering consent”:

    “engineering consent” indeed.
My experinece in TOC is that the do that..If you argue with them too strongly, you posts are conveniently “moderated ” out.

  • Straight:

Ever since TOC became the de-facto support site for the freakish LGBT, they can no longer think straight…

And YES, they will have no hesitation in deleting any posts that challenge their deformed thoughts or mentality!

  • K-:

Corruption ,croynism, dictatorsip and unjust laws are far more worst than drug trafficking. They cause much suffering to mankind and nation than drugs do. These are the people to be given mandatory death penalty

  • Mani the Parrot:

IT may be hard for violence victims of LGBT which is Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people to seek help because they may not want to disclose their sexuality to police.
LGBT victims of partner violence may be concerned about giving gay and lesbian relationships a ‘bad name’ and may refuse to speak up about the abuse they’re suffering.
When people do seek help, the police may misunderstand the situation as a fight between two men or women rather than a violent intimate relationship.
So TOC is offering its online community site to LGBT to promote public awareness of their existence, activities and voicing their grievances.

  • Straight:

“So TOC is offering its online community site to LGBT to promote public awareness of their existence, activities and voicing their grievances.”

Agreed that LGBT should have more avenues to voice their grievances…and TR is a place too for them. Howwever, it was too obvious that TOC is more into promoting LGBT lifestyle rather than simply allowing the airing of grievances.

They had gang-up with well known LGBT activists and militants in fighting for and promotion of homosexuality lifestyle, as well as to gain prominence and formal recognition as a minority group normally reserve for minority religious body or races, as this will accords them political rights to push through and openly promote their freakish lifestyle.

We should empathize with LGBT but this does not means that we can allow them to become a form of recognized and normalized lifestyle in our society!

  • Lee Juat Soon:

TOC is seriously mental to think they can shaddap a diplomat from the Confederation. Without the Liaison, FYI none of us would even be able to play the game in the first place only the children of the elites can, so guanxi is there alredi. What did Toc ever do for us? They hate gamers. Besides It is so expensive these days. And we all know gaming nick nacks is a controlled market that only enriches a few who can do with less money. If it wasnt for them, we would all still have to get it at the list price of Blizzard, Sony and Microsoft through their resellers. By the time it reaches us, something that cost $1 is selling for $100. We all know these gaming companies are worst than blood suckers. We all know they are also same people who have been trying to get rid of the brotherhood since the ebay scandal with Chinese gold. Same reason why the Chinese kicked them out of China and HK under trumped up charges of illigel mining! So I am not surprised they dont even get mentioned by Singaporedaily. Everyone is out to kill them. That is why they are denied a voice. But all you are doing is making them stronger that is all. And now Toc tries to shaddap a diplomat from the Confederation is just so unbelievable, that I find myself shaking my head. Night as well go and snatch the mike from Kofi Adnan if he wants to speak in the UN general council. Unbelievably mental!

  • Lee Juat Soon:

“The Engineer of Consent” right you are Sergei.

  • @Lee Juat Soon, so the Brotherhood is actually a group of HACKERS that ILLEGAL hacks and reproduce games and host replica servers like many of those in China?

  • TR same as SPH:

i believe its an online game

  • st rimes:

can u all imagine if the government could get their hands on 2 0r 3 singaporedaddies. It is like going back in time and giving a caveman a couple of M-16’s. They would rule the internet. Phew!
