Singapore Warns of Strait Attack
By Wayne Ma from Wall Street Journal
Terrorists may be planning attacks on oil tankers and other large ships in the Malacca Strait, the Singapore Shipping Association said Thursday, citing an advisory from the Singapore Navy.
The Singapore Navy’s Information Fusion Centre “received an indication that a terrorist group is planning attacks on oil tankers in the Malacca Straits,” it said in the advisory, which was reviewed by Dow Jones Newswires. “This does not preclude possible attacks on other large vessels with dangerous cargo.”
The Singapore Navy couldn’t immediately be reached for comment. The Singapore Shipping Association declined to elaborate.
More than 50,000 vessels pass annually through the Malacca Strait, a vital link connecting the Middle East and Europe to Asia. It runs between Malaysia and the Indonesian island of Sumatra.

I think my comments will be posted here faster than “A Nation’s Shame” as there will be no one commenting here as is not government bashing article.

What is there to comment huh? Our track record speaks for itself. Our neighbour’s navies will likely be able to handle the treat better, as edvident from the Mas Selamat escape.
Therefore, I don’t think we can take them seriously. Empty vessels making the most noise!
GIC was probably long oil contracts
PAP up to its same old trick again!
Every time when the GE is near, they will “create” a “Bogeyman”
out of the blue to scare the citizens (whom they assume) would vote them again for fear of instability.
Crying Wolf once too often may not always work.
This time it will backfire because voters already know that the Police and Army combined could not even capture Mas Selamat in a highly controlled police state what more handle a more threatening “terrorist group”??
PAP forgets that the people are more scared of “losing jobs and homes” not external threats anymore.Afterall, the PAP are themselves responsible for allowing the influx of foreigners into this very country(Oops!should be City? But why a tiny City needs to pay millions to so many ministers who get so easily paranoid??)
