Use of the Internet also cannot reach the non-english citizens.

The lorry drivers, the lao bai xing commoner blue collar workers who at most can read non-english news cannot be reached.

I suspect many of these tak boleh tahan but dunno what is going on in the internet especially the Alternative media.

There is no Alternative Media in Chinese/Malay/Hindi. That is not wise.

  • Singaporean:

The issues more dear to the heart will be influx of so-called foreign talent, the rising prices of housing needs, primary school places be taken away by PRs, etc.

  • Incredulous:

I am not sure, why the Reform Party chose to have a seminar on Education when there are current Bread & Butter issues to be resolved for the locals.

On top of that, by inviting a non-credible person like Gomez will not help their cause. After all Gomez did purposely created a huge drama during the last GE; which was later proved to be his own doing.

The Reform Party should be concentrating their resources on looking for credible people to join their party and strengthening their party manifesto, so that they can emerge as a strong and credible alternative party to PAP.

Then it would make sense, to hold such seminars. Until then, there is no point, if they are not part of the system and make a real change to the education system.

  • Unreachable Voters

i fully agree with your view. there is only so much people in the Internet Platform. i have come to realize we are only vying so much support of the entire population.

The Opposition Parties have to do more Offline work aside from stepping up Online Publicity.

    Singapore for Singaporeans

  • Anonymous:

In a way it is too late to change things.

Long years of conditioning has made most people into unthinking walking zombies living in a tiny well.

It is a near impossible task for humans, in spite of their desperate efforts.

We can only hope for divine (karma) help. That is the only hope.

  • UnReachable Voters:

Heavy Traffic frequently reported by radio in the mornings.

    Alex Tan,
Yes, its a relieve to hear people like yourself agreeing that the main unhappy lot are cannot be reached. This group are the most affected. The most vulnerable. The most helpless.

Blogs are English. an article here and there occasionally in Chinese is quite futile given that they dunno or dun use the internet in the 1st place. Internet means computer means english. Period.

Singapore Alternatives need to think Out-of-the-Box. Relying on what technology is given to us by the west is not sufficient.

    Innovate!

Get editorial help from China or India to translate the articles and distribute in printed forms or hold weekly events communicate to the minds of this UnReachable worst-hit group.

A highly educated, earning enough person uses the internet but they are the less affected.

A mistake may have been made by not attempting to reach this group since long ago.

Innovate: Talk to Strangers. Learn from poll takers on orchard road. Sales people on orchard road. They grab a passerby and talk to them. Give some freebies. Slip in an information leaflet.
Tell them what they may not know. Too many information details they may not know. They may have heard a little news but not the details and Alternative Commentaries, Opinions and Rebuttals. Everything can be Rebutted. Nothing is 100% perfect. They need to know the Bad News as well.

  • Singaporean:

The seminar is too dry. If the opposition party is to present this issue in the GE, I’m sure many of the voters will not be too keen to hear it out. What they are more interest are issues that affect them directly.

  • simonsays:

Education is a good platform to start off afterall they are all abt Reform isn’t it? what’s happening in education is also affecting how the country is being managed. Like what Catherine Lim said years ago; there is a disconnect between the Governement n its people. similarly there is a disconnect between the education system n its stakeholders

  • Tua Kee Neo:

    Accounting also needs Reform.
Its said that decades of accounting needs to be done to find out the truth.

    Why delay starting the process?

Accounting industry can boom if ….
Accounting professionals, time to stand up.
