Malaysia national education programme claims that Chinese Malaysians were working together with Singapore to topple the Malay government
Written by Our Correspondent
Malaysia’s controversial national education programme conducted by its National Civics Bureau – the Biro Tata Negara or BTN has come under fire again for its racist agenda to promulgate the concept of “Ketuanan Melayu” or Malay superiority.
The programme is intended to instill nationalistic values and patriotism in university students on public scholarships and civil servants. The BTN is under the charge of the Prime Minister’s Department.
The Selangor state government controlled by the opposition Pakatan Rakyat coalition has banned its civil servants, employees of state subsidiaries and students at state-owned education institutions from attending any BTN courses.
Selangor state executive council member Dr Halimah Ali said described BTN programmes as “indoctrination by the Barisan Nasional (BN) government”.
“The courses promote racism and my own children who have attended BTN have been given booklets that encourage hate towards the opposition. The programmes are not positive to young minds, and are a waste of money which could have used to foster real unity,” she said.
The camp would usually take place during the weekends. Students would have to register early in the morning and the programme would last the whole day.
Malaysian Insider journalist Asrul Hadi Abdullah Sani wrote that he has learn the “meaning of hate” from the BTN course during which a speaker said that the Chinese community were “the Jews of Asia” and were just itching to take over when Malays were disunited and broken.
According to Asrul, the speaker also revealed a greater Chinese conspiracy where the Chinese Malaysians were working together with Singapore to topple the Malay government.
“Do you want to become like the Malays in Singapore?” he asked.
About 15 per cent of Singapore’s population are Malays. Singapore was once part of the Malaysian Federation between the years 1963 to 1965.
After Singapore separated from Malaysia in August 1965, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tunku Abdul Rahman offered Malays in Singapore land in Johor should they want to relocate there. Few took up the offer.
Over the years, Malaysian leaders such as Tun Dr Mahathir had consistently harped on the “plight” of the ethnic Malays in Chinese-dominated Singapore.
Surprisingly, though Malays in Malaysia are given special privileges under the government’s affirmative action plan – the New Economic Policy (NEP), few Malays in Singapore have migrated to Malaysia.
On the contrary, countless of Malaysian Chinese flocked to find work in Singapore with many of them becoming Singapore citizens, leading to a brain drain for Malaysia.
Malaysia’s Prime Minister Datuk Najib Razak noted that half the number of medical specialists at Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital are Malaysians during his recent visit to attend the APEC Summit.
Malaysia’s Chinese now constitutes only 25 per cent of the population, down from 40 per cent in the 1960s.
Many of Singapore’s first-generation leaders are born in Malaysia such as its former deputy Prime Minister Dr Toh Chin Chye (Taiping, Perak), Finance Minister Goh Keng Swee (Malacca) and Home Affairs Minister Ong Pang Boon (Kuala Lumpur).
Singapore’s present health minister Mr Khaw Boon Wan was born in Penang. The CEO of Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund Temasek Holdings and the wife of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong hails from Kuala Lumpur.

The “Malay Government” and not the Malaysian Government???
What kind of stupid racist education is that?
They do not recognise Malaysia?
If that is so, then Sabah and Sarawak should be independent because they are not part of the “Malay Government” but part of “Malaysian Government”.
Why use Singapore as a punching bag? Because we are a small country, so they can bully us any time and any how they like?

Now they have to resort to the propaganda tactic. Just lame .. One or 2 new countries will be born in the coming years.

When the Malaysian government got problems, they resort to blaming it on others. Tatics like selective press reporting, education, whatever u can name it……. are used to influence the minds of those who are naive enough to believe.

Now we know what’s national service & the SAF is about.
Go watch or buy a copy of the DVD “City of Life & Death” and see for youselves what Japan out of greed, envy & jealousy did to an already weakened & divided China then.
When the so-called “bumi-policy” is not getting anywhere today after half a century except for UMNO & its cronies then even if the Malays are in greater numbers today, it doesn’t help. It’s between have-nots & the haves. The former will inevitably join the Anwar faction making up strength with the disfranchaised Indians and disgruntled Chinese who are all disfavoured & discriminated against in all segments of life.
Where does it look to for the SCAPEGOAT now? Of course the tiny, wealthy, non-NEP Lion City across the Straits. Lest more of their kind who have eyes to see & brains to judge opt for our meritocractic and non-NEP system where the positive multiplier effect or spin-off from this system grows pie with more employment & taxes from the talented & creative which goes back to the public servants, Growth Dividends, infrastructures, etc.
Well, with the tax-paying Chinese dwindling & with the ever growing “consumers”, Malaysia is just heading to being the 2nd Indonesia in the near future.

@John,
We do know that mandatory conscription is forced slavery , waste of time and utterly useless to people who do not wish to be enlisted due to their own personal convictions : )
Do you honestly believed that Malaysia is going to attack Singapore in the near future?
Fact:
1) 350,000 Malaysians work in Singapore
2) Singapore is Malaysia’s one of the top trading partners
3) Malaysia has nothing to benefit but many to lose by going to war against Singapore

Statement like this made by politician from Malaysia is below the belt.

“Malaysia is just heading to being the 2nd Indonesia in the near future.”
Btw Indonesia is the only growth story in recent years, with these kind of ignorant fools soon to be in charge, the only change is the color of the incompetents.
As to whatever propaganda and racist courses the BN has ALLEGEDLY conducted, somehow freedom of speech and association becomes forgotten bywords with no meaning to these so called “democratic activists”.
Fair enough, if the Pakatan Rakyat has PROOF of racist and political indoctrination, please publish all evidence on Malaysiakini. If not, please abandon all pretense of journalism.

Propaganda from one side does NOT negate propaganda from the other.
How can banning people from attending any courses be legal or democratic? In that case all civil servants should be barred from all social-political/religious courses.
Such courses cannot be made mandatory to attend or barring people from attending.

Are you ok? Just answer the questions below -
(1) Do you know how many daughters & wives are maid export (from Singapore to the Middle East)? The figure is shocking I tell you.
(2) What’s its per capita income given its abundance mineral wealth and early independence?
(3) What’s its GINI index?
(4) What are its primary exports – manufactured products? Btw, its oilfields are drying upo & ageing and Indonesia today is an OIL IMPORTER. Surprise?
(5) How do you classify the ever bulgeoning 230 million people there as “consumers” or “wealth creators”?
Thank you.
What “growth story” are you talking abt? We’re being factual. Let’s be candid and REAL. Stop politicking.
What do you foresee for Indonesia in the next 5, 10 or 15 years from now? Give us your extrapolation in the universal measures eg GNP, per capita income, etc.

Some Singaporeans want to think that Indonesia is a country of no hope. But the truth is Singapore is hanging by the thread with corruption money from Indonesia. Only idiots would think that Singapore is so great.
Singapore internal market is so small compared to Indonesia. You can simply become rich by serving only the Indonesian market. They may have a lot of poor and uneducated but their rich, middle class and educated population is equally large.
How much more land does Singapore has for growth? The answer is very little. Our neighbours Malaysia or indonesia has abundance of it. And if one day they decide to merge as Nusantara, then Singapore flag will just have to be replaced.
Today, Singapore has to rely on IR a.k.a. casino a.k.a. gambling den plus prostitution to survive. But Indonesia and Malaysia do not depend on these industries to remain competitive. So who is the hopeless one? The answer is Singapore.
Stupid second class citizen!

Something called GDP – something economists use to measure growth. Anyway, is China not another engine of the the global economy? How many workers does it export?

These UMNO bums are real lazy people even in the 21st century.
The Chinese from 40% in the 60s down to 22% today they still want to blame them for their own misdeamour. Affirmation policy for 45 years already and country still like this. Still want to blame the Chinese (taxpayers).
Malaysia, as a country then, they shd blame China, HK, Taiwan and Singapore for making them poor.
What a joke! Affirmative policy is meant for WOMEN, CHILDREN & NATIVE ABORIGINE (Orang Asli) not for able-bodied people. Shameless people!
How to be kuat (strong)? Kekuatan Melayu? Strong Malays> When in fact “Malay” refers to the Filipinos & Indonesions as well. These migrants themselves can’t even define the term “Malay”.
