Cmon guys...i feel tht LKY and Mahathir were both great leaders in their own right..revolutionizing their individual nations through tumultuous times..
Of cos no one is perfect and both have made mistakes..but both countries do enjoy more stability compared to many other countries in the world..much owing to policies implemented by these two "old men"..
Alas..as much as they have contributed the their respective nations..u cannot pls evrybody...and i personally hope tht in time LKY and Mahathir will put their differences aside and show each other the respect they much deserve...
and the same goes for us..we can criticize some of their decisions but we should not judge them on their character..as they are two of the greatest characters in political history..at least in my view...

It is unfair that these 2 sick old fools, shd affect the neighbourliness and brotherhood of the citizens of both countries.

Why are the 2 Funky old men, internationaling their private feud at our expense?

Stop it and return us the long delayed peace that we are longing for.

Mahathir thought he would be deeply respected after he left the Malaysian politics but he was wrong. So, he make noise everywhere and screws everybody up!

Please..Mahathir stepped down but could not step out - he was meddling from outside - at least old man Lee knew he could not stop meddling and still stays within the system rather than outside of it. They're both alike in many ways but one's clearly way smarter than the other.

The article wrote: "He is credited with modernizing Malaysia which was largely an agricultural country back then."

I mean seriously, that must be an exaggeration; Malaysia is hardly a modernized country. Laughable; these muppets can’t even get the right spelling for the name of their premier university. (fyi: college, as in an university is not spelled universiti, technology is certainly not spelled teknologi).

You chumps don’t really qualify to talk about oratory (unless you’re referring to “olatoli” or however you guys spell the word).

And to my beloved and venerable Malaysian friends, I appeal to you to
1) have some class
2) brush up your English if you’re gona use this website (well cos it’s in English and not universiti English).

Point 1) //PAIN KILLER on Thu, 19th Nov 2009 5:04 pm

//OMG OMG, how easy for u guys to say untrue things about former PM Mahathir…Fyi, all Singaporeans just lick & sauce Lee Kuan Yew’s balls & talk behind his back…he even creted a post for himself, not wanting to step down. His family owns half of singapore…What is nowed by LKY & his family…even d PM position is family-run…//

I say, omg omg, please have some class.

Point 2) To my fellow singaporeans, read any entries that defend Ma’ha-ha-ha’thir and you probably won’t understand what the message is. Dear Malaysian friends, please convert to some malay sites, I’m sure they are good too.

Omg omg, the world will be a better place if only you’re more like Singaporean. It’s a pity you’re not. Sigh.

Funny thing about millionaires, Malaysia probably has more ethnic Chinese millionaires (who are NOT government cronies) than Singapore ratio wise even after currency conversion.

Whether the profits made are ethical or not, that is another issue. It can be argued that UMNO's NEP policies has engendered greater entrepreneurship in the Malaysian Chinese, however using the state's machinery in the form of GLCs akin to PAP/Singapore they have tried to stifle Chinese entrepreneurship less successfully than Singapore. Not to say Singapore's initially successful GLCs are now, in comparison, are being run better.

Is it better to have 1000 bureaucrats or 1000 businessmen? Hmm...

I have a lot of objections to being ruled by a coalition of Islamic fundamentalists, Chinese socialists and Malay liberals.
While I have no problems with the last component, it is the company they keep and their relative lack of establishment.

If Mahathir is such a pariah and loser in the eyes of the West, why would Discovery Channel give him this honor of making a documentary about him? It is not as if Mr Ahmaddinejad is next in a series of documentaries about Muslim dictators.

LKY can probably will get a docu after his departure, though.
