land reform is where it’s all started, the divergence of commies system n capitalist one.
the land reform was the first focus in china when it became commies (also in russia/sovyet) ..it’s also among the first focus when Deng “opened” the door.
however, i feel.. the word “reform” in “land/property reform” and capitalism are contradictory. which landowner would agree to redistribution ofthe resource (read: wealth, i.e. land)? ..they r the oligarch, the real power behind the scene. the “reform” may just end up “title”-ing ..i.e. legalising the unequal access to resource n providing framework on how the access can be transfer …without any guarantee that transfer’s ‘direction’ will balance “the have” and “the have-not”.
then of coz, we hv singapore. the land resources r all in gahmen hands. in theory, this guarantees access for all citizen. however, the question is ..whether a transfer of access to the land from gahmen to the citizen should be priced or free? ..if priced, how much?
yes, we go back to HDB issue. if the transfer of land priced at zero, is it not a simple “redistribution of wealth”? do we not sound more like a commie? hehe.
but who cares, rite? all these thing just make simple matter complicated. what we want is simple ..the HDB price MUST be low when we want to buy, n it MUST be high we sell it ..as simple as that. how to that? it’s gahmen job!
P/S: am looking for a 4-room flat around sengkang/punggol. i dont care how much valuation anymore, as long as the COV is around $5K. it can be low floor, or near dust-bin, or corridor, or far from MRT/LRT, or far from bus-stop ..but please not more 2 of them together. anyone knows any lobang, please post here. Thanks, TR -)
the global divide shown in the video has similarities to the income divide in singapore.
globally nobody is say that its inevitable and just live with it… rather everyone is working towards finding solutions to eliminate the inequities and inequalities… only in Singapore do we find such a policy that we should not complain about it and accept it
DeSoto’s thinking would benefit from an awareness of the ideas of Henry George, as developed in “Progress & Poverty,” “Social Problems” and “The Land Question.
All are available online. I commend them all to your attention.
You might look also for some speeches, including “The Crime of Poverty” and “Thou Shalt Not Steal.” http://www.wealthandwant.com/ has most of them.
