Zhang Yuan Yuan, a China PRC citizne, had studied in Singapore for 5 years and have landed a lucrative job in a Multi-National Company (MNC) here… HAHA! that is reminiscent of tons of PRCs in the labs of NUS. Well, so wat? We still continue to pay for their research scholarship from taxpayers money hoping that at least one or two miserable ones would stay and contribute, but truth is… Anyway, labs in NUS engineering are are all mini chinatown… just look at the websites…

It is globalisation, we can keep RECYCLING foreign talent and foreign labour in general and ACHIEVE the same economic outcome from a higher population base WITHOUT INCREASING OUR CITIZENRY AND WITHOUT THE BURDEN OF ADJUSTMENT OF HIGH HDB PRICES, PERMANENT PRESSURE ON TRANSPORT, INFRASTRUCTURE, AND FINANCIAL BURDEN OF SUPPORTING THEM IN ECONOMIC CRISIS.

MUCH LOWER RISKS BY JUST FINE-TUNING PEP, WP to bring in foreigners to our workplace only as necessary and urgently needed AND NOT THE INSANITY THE PR ROUTE adding UNNECESSARY risks and destroying the livelihoods of so many Singaporeans.

WITH GLOBALISATION AND WORKERS EVERYWHERE ON THE MOVE GLOBALLY, this can easily be achieved easier than what the Saudi Arabia and UAE have been doing for decades successfully.

I do understand the PAP's stand of wanting more immigrants, foreign talents, foreign labour to make up for our declining population. However, PAP went overboard by granting so many PRs so haphazardly and freely. It's sickening, and we Singaporeans are not given enough breathing space to adjust ourselves. PAP's way of doing things is autocratic, and we citizens are just bring forced to gulp everything down. PAP should not be so overly ambitious, trying to solve this decling population problem quickly just by granting more PRs to foreigners. PAP saw Japan's decling population, get uptight, figure that this trend will jeopardize our economy, and thus want to solve this problem before it becomes to be like Japan. However, PAP forgot that this is not Mathematics, there is no fast solution such that you can just add or subtract to achieve your balanced equation. It's not just the population numbers that is involved. There is a lot more to take into consideration. Why do we Singaporeans not want to give birth? Why do we want to immigrate? Why are we so unsatisfied? Why do we grumble and complain?
It's a continuous journey to solve and tackle these problems, there is no just once-and-for-all solution. PAP should not aim for one-and-for-all solution. We are human beings, as long as there is people, there is bound to be grouses. Instead of just using more PRs for a one-stop solution, PAP should delve deeper and think of a long term solution, one that encourages Singaporeans to give birth, and not 'buy' / 'import' for convenience sake.

There is nothing wrong with Zhang YY declaring her loyalty to China. I am a PR in Australia and deep inside me, Singapore is still my home. Singapore is a relatively young nation and I could see the ppl are not used to the inflow of immigrant to serve Singapore for economic reason. Australia has a huge population of immigrant, the result of delibrate gahmen policy to meet their economic growth demand. These migrant may apply for PR dependant on meeting the criteria, and some may stay on further to become Aus citizen, some may hold dual citizenship. I have Singaporean friends who are holding dual citizenship too. Every country is luring foreigners (talent or non-talent) to work, live or eventually stay. The significant difference between Aus and Sing is that the former has a strong workforce Union to fight/protect the interest of true blood Aus labor. In Singapore, the union is quasi or even full government run agency. Coupled with no minimum wage cap policy, it leaves the low-income singaporean simply with no protection at all. The idea of an absolute gahmen to run Singapore is obsolete and gradually has to give way to more opposition. If gahmen is still not opening up/accepting the reality, the frustration will soon translate into negative polling result.

Zhang Yuan Yuan done nothing wrong,... It's our well paid government that are on the wrong side of the track.
I'm a Singaporean but have been staying in Beijing for the past 16 years... why?.. because when I graduate from this Chinese school in the 80's, I was branded as "chinese helicopter" then and couldn't get a fair job in the market. You know why... because our government has always using English to block normal citizen like us or the elder generation to get involve with the politic. If you will lucky to view their parliament meetings, most of the time, ministers will use their bombastic english to explain their new policies. By doing so, lots of citizen will understand part of it and just keep quiet... or they can only voice out in the coffee shop.
Even as a ture blood Singaporean, I don't feel any belonging here... I sing the anthem in Malay which I forget what the exact meaning is... so why blame Yuan Yaun...

As a foreigner who has been living in SG for quite some time now, i started changing my mind about it and now observing its true problems. Thanks to TR website... at first i didn't understand why there was large exodus of bright Singaporeans looking for greener pastures, why sgeans were complaining about basic necessities like HDB and now i do... we expats don't feel your pain because we draw good salaries and have no commitments as you do... as an alien i hear you guys.. this is your land and your gahmen should be looking after you... i see elders unable to afford complex health care due to aging, unable to afford designer drugs as those shit drugs from poly wouldn't work... some counting their savings hoping to die sooner without misery... some collecting cans just to get by... i don't even want to go into carton boxes... and all that misery at the end for working for 30+ years for this country? if this were my country i'd feel the same and leave asap to avoid spending my retirement in misery, begging councils and poverty..HDB is supposed to be working for you all natural born citizens ensuring you all have a roof over your heads and not money minting machines... theirs and ministers' salaries are paid by your hard earned money... selling HDB to PRs is a very wrong move... unless PRs marry local citizens hence creating closer bond with the country... even in that case locals who got married must retain their names for the flat...
trust me almost all my colleagues took up PRs just to get off this "island" as soon as they can and they don't give a shit what happens to it or its citizens... but you all can do something: stand up and start voicing out...

P.S: whoever owns this website, you're doing great service to your community pls keep it alive and keep educating your fellow sgeans...

The pink identity card is an identification, a symbol of pride and belonging to citizens of a nation. Let it not become the banana currency issued during the war and occupation period, .....of no value and a collector's item.

It’s really sad. To migrate to another country or wait to be overwhelmed and become the minority in our own land? I hope the government wakes up to our valid concerns soon and set things right again before it’s too late to u-turn."

Whether U migrate or stay back... both way, u are still a minority if they keep pursuing their objective without consideration of the local.

Like our forefather 50 yrs ago, let uproot and move.
