Lee Bee Wah to meet Liu Guodong; ex-President Yeo urged STTA to account to the public
Translated from Lianhe Wanbao
According to reliable sources, Lee Bee Wah will be meeting Liu Guodong at a later date. Both parties are willing to resolve the matter amicably as soon as possible.
As Liu Guodong is very busy of late, it may need a bit more time to arrange for a suitable date to meet. Liu’s wife will be delivering on 29 June. He is likely to remain in Beijing.

In the meantime, ex-STTA President Yeo Guat Kwang expressed concerns that the Liu Guodong saga has dragged on for too long and urged STTA to settle the matter and give a proper account to the people as soon as possible.
Yeo said that STTA should handle the matter proactively as it arose out of its decision not to nominate Liu for the “Coach of the year” award.
He said that STTA had its own transparent system of settling disputes between the players and coaches and an independent committee can be appointed if necessary to bring the matter to a close.
“Though there is nothing wrong to remain silent at times, STTA should account to the public soon. This matter has dragged on for too long”, Yeo said.
Yeo praised Dr Vivian’s suggestion to seek a third party’s help in mediating to resolve the differences between them. He felt that since matters have come to such a stage, it is no longer a personal matter between the coach and STTA alone. It is time for STTA to come out and account itself to the public.
EDITORS’ NOTE:
We support Mr Yeo’s call for STTA to explain its recent actions to Singaporeans which appeared to lack “professionalism and integrity”.
STTA should call a press interview immediately to answer the following questions:
1. What are the criteria for a coach to qualified for nomination as “Coach of the year”?
2. What are the reasons behind STTA not nominating Liu Guodong for the award?
3. Is it an unanimous decision made by all members of STTA’s exco?
4. Does STTA support its President’s explanation that Liu was not nominated for the award because he lacked professionalism and integrity and if so, can it please substantiante its allegations?
5. Who ordered the two STTA officials to pass the English document to Liu Guodong to sign?
6. Who had been giving Shin Min Daily “insider information” to smear the character of Liu Guodong?
Regardless of the outcome, Lee Bee Wah has lost all moral authority to remain as President of STTA.
Please sign on the two online petitions if you haven’t done so:
1. Petition to DPM Teo Chee Hean to give special award to Liu Guodong
2. Petition to remove Lee Bee Wah as STTA President
Turn up at Hong Lim Park on 6 June 2009 between 5pm to 6.30pm to sign the petition calling for her removal as STTA President.

You know…if she do some form of make up before our petition starts it’ll be a good form of damage control, and there’ll be people who’d forgive her if she did it nicely. But I’ll still sign that petition…just speaking my mind for now. I don’t believe in too many chances, after all.

hi there
1. it is a mockery of one’s intelligience taking such a long time to “decide” getting a 3rd party as an “in-between” thing.
2. on my scorecard: the leadership at stta is either half-cooked leadership or no leadership.
3. and it takes more than a panel of president, vp, deputy vps and ceo etc etc not to come up with something concrete for any damange control.
4. in any management term, they fail miserably.
5. i am wondering what’s in the respective kpis, if there is any.
6. a waste of taxpayers’ monies and resources that can be put to better use elsewhere.
7. thank you.
All MP of AMK GRC should speak up on the issue.
as LBW is a team members in your GRC.
GRC MP work as a team ?????? or work under LSL
PM should give singaporean some guildline on the SAGA. as she is your teams members.
She is right.
she is wrong.
she just happen to be in her period.
we just want to know why an educated MP can bark and bite
someone without reasons.
If Lee Bee Wah does some form of make up, it is because Vivian said so.
Not because she sincerely thinks so.
This is a HUGE difference.
Forget about it!
LBW is under pressure to “do something” which is a complete different from IF she had done it willingly, given that the last incident was also under pressure form the Minister then.
Such arrogrant brat should NEVER BE FORGIVEN as it shows a lack of sincerity and remourse on her part!
Whether LIU agress to settle with her or not, she HAS TO STEP DOWN FROM STTA AND MP!!!
Dear all,
This matter is not as easy as you think it is. What the public is seeing now is that STTA did not nominate Coach Liu for the Coach of the year award. There are things that the public dun see. In fact, there are a lot of things and politics going on inside STTA, even before LBW took over. That is a fact. Players have been handled upfairly and there are infact a lot of hanky panky things that went on inside. LBW was appointed to clear things up in STTA.
Hence, she needed to have a “hard liner” and tough attitude. Tough as she maybe, but I guess, she has a few shortcomings, that may even bring about her downfall.
Her impromptu speeches to the media and press and at times, things nust got out of hand. As a tough leader and President, she should also be “tough enough” to stand up and convey to the public now, to the reasons why STTA did not nominate Coach Liu for the award. That, she must do and it seems that she is running away because she is afraid of Coach Liu? Or bacause she was TOLD to hands off and let someone else do the PR for her. We need to be mindful that this might happened and now LBW could be “stuck” and she cannot do anything.
Whatever the case, I am not talking about what went on in STTA on a daily basis. Just justify your reasons for not nominating Coach Liu for the award. If STTA’s reasons are justified, then i believe that Singaporeans will on the contrary stand behind STTA. It is very clear in fact that STTA cannot seem to justify their reasons for not nominating Coach Liu… Thats why they are still trying to buy time?
If this matter goes to court, I am not a lawyer, but I am sure that the lawyer acting for Coach Liu will surely “bang” on these justifications and the criteria to be a Coach of the Year Award. In short, sooner or later, these two issues must be addressed, either in court (then the public will know whose is at fault) or at mediation centre.
Thank
Oh I c…our beloved empress dowager LeeBH is finally granting an audience with the x coach..how very gracious of her! Hopefully, she leaves all her back stabbing utensils in her kitchen!
