Darkness,

Looks like you are one of the victims that is blind by all the main stream media again. Our main stream media only report the bads of other countries and report how good is a hand shake with some MPs.... (what I means is that even our MPs goes to market and shake hand with public, the main stream media report as if tomorrow is their Bonus payout day).

I have been working in Beijing for the past 16 years, and I think at some points, China is actually more democratic than in Singapore. I will think Singapore is more a Communist country than China.

I have friends and staffs from Singapore, or even western countries, in Beijing and Shanghai. Most of them have been here for more than 5 years and they have no intention of going back to Singapore. You want to know why Ah Teo came to China, I will invite you to visit us in Beijing to show you the good life we, singaporeans, have here.

We all know the corruption in China, but please, do you think we don't have them back home? If you will to try harder, like Eugene and the gang do, you will know there are more than what is reported here.

If you will to switch on CCTV2 and CCTV5 in China, trust me, you will be surprise to see how some of the reporters comment and report what some of their governments wrong doings. Their newspapers, Southern Weekend Post, report and comment a lot of back scene of the government doing.... and most of the time, the central governments do take immediate action to resolve them. Most of the interviewer were not afraid to appear in camera, as they have no fear that their government will take action on them. I once brought my lecturer to dinner near Empress Place. While we were discussing some topics on politic, he started to look around. When I asked him why, he told me to keep to keep my voice low as there might have camera or device ear dropping our conversation. Haha, you can't blame these interviewers that WayangParty have flimed, asking "don't take my face leh".

Their PM, Wen JiaBao, is indeed a humble man and he welcomes and invites the medias to expose and find faults in the government's doing. What you heard from the Western's media about censored news they reported live and about human right issues, are purely their view points; which I believe Asian has different ways and value to handle its own human right issues. If you are in Beijing, you will find during the morning and everning, lots of old age will crowd around the garden and roadside doing some dancing and chats. Most of them have no housing or credit problems like we have in Singapore. I would say a lot of they lead a better life than our old ages here.

Of coure, they are farmers and the poors that you can find them here on the street. This is mainly cause by the rapid development of this country but I believe they will eventually resolve them in times.... no other country in the world has such rapid develope as China. They will have to gain experience and find solutions to it as there is no example or ready solution for such big Asia country.
Remember, Chinese learn fast. I have recently heard over the news that some of the suburban areas offer the old age free for bus.

So if you ask me why Ah Teo is here? My answer is... he better do!

I'm sorry that I have to reply to you with such broken english as I'm a Chinese educated during my school days. I was consider a "waste" in Singapore and that is why I came to China 16 years ago, I'm indeed surprised that the Chinese was so accomodating to a foreigner like me (of course, nows a day is a litlle bit different). Therefore, I hope we, Singaporean, can be also as accomodating to the FT by not discriminating them. I especially hate reading our LiangHe Wan Bao, this bunch of editors only report the gossips of these chinese women, but when come to the real issue in reflecting the public needs, they keep so low profile.... screw them!!! Oops, i think one of the editors was my schoolmate before.
