During Obama's campaign, his opponents tried to link him with the hate speech of his pastor Rev Wright. The mud didn't stick because Obama handled it with aplomb. Let the PAP and its lapdog media throw mud on Tan. Bring it on!

This are the type of leaders Singapore need. At the least he is allowing dissenting views to be published which would never have happened before, especially with the state owned mainstream media. Do you see it as a problem that he is posting letters from his readers?

"First, it was the unsolicited “apology” to Dr Chee Soon Juan for a post made more than a month ago." - your opinion does not represent the public who reads his blog.
"Now, it was a “letter” from a reader about a speech made by the late David Marshall in 1994 criticizing the exorbitant pay packages of PAP leaders."

- Do you in wanyang see anything wrong with this? This is probably the sentiment of alot of Singaporeans.

"Whereas his posts are previously focused mainly on financial matters, Mr Tan has been becoming increasingly vocal on national and political issues though he has been very careful so far not to comment on them directly."

- I see this as an improvement that TKL is also taking interest in other issues besides of financial, instead of just focussing on human rights, without considering the basic needs.

"The prevailing sentiment on the ground is not to change the PAP or its “system”, but to have a stronger opposition in Parliament to check on them.
Though it is a misnomer, it is the unfortunate truth that most Singaporeans prefer “constructive” opposition leaders in the mould of Mr Chiam See Tong and Mr Low Thia Kiang who are not “confrontational” in nature to represent their interests in Parliament."

- this is wayang's perception not most Singaporeans! Where are your statistics for this? What has LTK done to represnt Singaporeans in their interests in Parliament?

"It is not the time for Mr Tan to “burn” his bridges with the PAP yet. In fact, he should start to mend the ties which have been strained due to his consumer activism for the minibond investors."

- if TKL really did this before you suggested this in your article - what would you have labeled him? an opposition wrapped in PAP's wool? TKL does not need to burn his bridges, that's for sure. However he need not behave like the current load of WP leaders like LTK who does not represent the interests of the people who voted him him. LTK had the honour of the government labeling him as well behaved? more a a pet I would say. Woof Woof. I note that whatever TKL does, wayang has plenty of criticisms. Is that the ONLY thing Wayang is capable of?

"With due respect to Mr Goh, it is highly unlikely he will attract even half the crowd last week if he is the organizer instead."

To be fair, Mr. Tan Kin Lian might not have attracted the same no. of people to attend his speeches if they were not about the structured notes issue - in which case many Singaporeans lost money and were hoping Mr. Tan could help them to recover the money.

In contrast, Mr. Tan is going to talk about life in general in his next rally. We can probably use the crowd turnout to gauge his drawing power for non-structured notes issues. Thanks.
